I thought I would find a free online school for any age – but the online middle schools seem to have thrown me. You can pay huge amounts to have your child taught online for their middle school education, but there are no obvious online middle schools for free.

I have hence provide a parent with three great online resources they may find of use.

The first is Internet4classrooms.com . This site provides a huge number of different resources for child and allows them to be tested in the different areas of the curriculum. The website is well laid out and it is easy to use but it does have one fundamental flaw – it is designed for teachers to use in the classroom and completely lacks any structured curriculum to use in the home. However as basis for a free virtual middle school – it is a very good start.

I have found out that the Georgia Virtual School provide a free online maths remediation service for students and teachers living in Georgia. This is a self - enrolment course, and can be used by either schools or pupils working on their own. The course was created by the Georgia Education Department, and so it can be trusted.

To attend the Georgia Virtual School itself for a middle school age child is not covered by the state and costs $600 per subject taken per year. This could be of value if you wish additional paid support in any of your free online middle school classes - and happen to live in Georgia.
