My Educational HistoryMy educational history, especially that using computers and the Internet is a long one. I have always been interested in computers. I remember why I only had a ZX81 Sinclair machine with 1k of memory. Every week I would copy out the computer program from a computer magazine (imagine doing that now!). While at university, I use to get great pleasure wandering over the very primitive internet - days before internet explorer. My lecturer employed me to find out ways of improving my university's profile online. I then went onto do several more degrees, including a PhD in microbiology, all of which taught me the importance of sharing my knowledge with others. As a birthday present, a friend of mine, bought me the website name timetoteach.co.uk and suggested I built a website which stopped every teacher and home school having to re invent the wheel every time they wanted to find educational resources. It is one of the oldest online educational websites and educational resource sites on the web, and was at thoughtout itd history, its peak use was frequently by the local education authorities as a tool for their teachers. This set me on the way to thinking of how many different ways can I help guide and find educational resources online. Folens - a UK educational publisher - then found my work and employed me to create a whole years worth of educational powerpoints for them. They are still very popular today. I then moved overseas, and now live in Bucharest, Romania, and work in one of the best schools in the city, and discovered that I could now combine my love of using technology, the only privately owned projector in the school, and teaching using the latest educational resources on the net. My mother then asked me why I don't follow her example and build a website to tell everyone about how great teaching online is, and provide a bit of guidance on where to find the best online schools on the web. I loved the idea - so here it is!
