Online Social Work Degrees
Why you should become a social worker People with online social work degrees are in great demand. There is an ever growing need for people who take care of people. By studying online, these people have been able to study at the very best colleges and universities, no matter where they live. In addition, they have been able to work and keep a stable home, personal and work life, while getting better qualifications. Is this not something we should all be aspiring to? Many complain about social workers, but they are the ones who keep the glue of society together. They are excellent at fighting for social justice for all and getting people to face and resolve their problems at a number of different levels. They are also responsible for checking adopted and fostered children are going to good homes. Why study online for a social work degree There are lots of benefits and pitfalls to studying online for a practical degree such as being a social worker. There are lots of really great courses however which let you study online, improving your qualifications, without needing to switch careers. I have seen some 'on the job' training courses. This means you need to already be a social worker, but you can use a combination of your current experiences and a set of more academic experiences, to further improve your position. For once, I think this is a fabulous position to be in - you can continue the job you love, and learn new skills and gain new insights into how different people may have successfully resolved problems which have completely out foxed you. I love how flexible online learning is - it lets you control the pace, so when your workload is particularly high, you can slow down a bit, and when work is more slack, you can increase your speed. You do need to make sure that your college is fully accredited and that it has been recognised by the US Education department, before enrolling, or you could find yourself wasting a lot of time and money on a piece of paper which lacks any respect or credibility. You must also be aware that online learning requires more determinations and dedication than a lot of people can offer - hence the high drop out rate (an expensive solution), and you need to seriously think if this is the best step for you. Possibly, if you live in town, a local college may have the degree you need, and it is nice as then you make new friends, and build up the all important list of future contacts.
