Wisconsin Home School

There is a huge demand for information on Wisconsin Home Schools. So I thought as an example of what parents can achieve together, when they really focus on an issue, I would devote a page of my website to telling you all about life as a home schooler in Wisconsin.

My information for this page mainly comes from this Wisconsin Home School site - The Wisconsin Parents Association This organisation has a wonderful set of coordinators to organise how you teach and organise your school. This means from the very beginning, you are never alone and will always be informed as to the laws of the state. This would be very comforting to any new home schooler, starting out on the long road of discovery.

This organisation also has taken the time to create a 286 page book detailing how to run a Wisconsin Home School, its benefits and the law. If every county and state, and country had a similar book, especially if someone could actually create an easy to read simple book which could be downloaded and used by anyone, then I am sure that the home school industry would be greatly benefited by it.

They do have a frequently asked question section. This section must be viewed with great caution if you live outside Wisconsin as it tells parents that a family issued school diploma is accepted at colleges… my research for this site has highlighted the need to make sure your child has an accredited home high school diploma from a reputable source for it to be accepted by employers and further education. It does however give good advice on testing and pre-testing.

The Home schooling resources section was well written – it gives solid, well thought out advice as to materials and costs needed. The basic requirement is a library card, which is free, and anything else is just a valuable extra.

They have a really touching section on what home schooling means to them. The laws in Wisconsin are freer than many other states and so the parents have a freer choice on how they can achieve. Read for your self their Wisconsin Home School children’s achievements

By being actively involved in the law, this site showed it took its members interests to heart. The legal section was well laid out and even thought I don’t live in this state, I am confident I could explain some of the more simple laws.

The site was really interesting. It should be used as a model for other Home School organisations keen to set up and support a wide network of home schooling parents.

Ask them to provide you with Wisconsin virtual school reviews - I am sure their member would love to share their knowledge with you. Or even better, I really need personal Wisconsin virtual school reviews for the site - just click on the banner at the bottom of the page to share your experiences with the rest of the world.
